Topic: THANK YOU SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH
I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, for I am so graceful for all your support and kindness to make the Bui family where we got to today after all these years. I am very proud and honor by the dedication of the people there coming together back in the year of 1975 to make our lives possible in an unknown country. As you know it has been 30 years last week mark the fall of Saigon which end the war in Vietnam. The war had taken so many lives and forever changed the lives of so many people and divided a nation and cost a president his legacy. For us we also lost family member and fled our home to the United States. Salem Lutheran Church took us in as if we were your own family. I will never forget the house we stay in next to the church where the pastor used to live there. It just seem so unbelievable that we are living in this beautiful home where is so peaceful and no war to worried. I love walking on those carpets, flushing the toilet, lights that shined when the phone is picked up and so many other things that we are not a accustomed to in this new country.
My mother and father as you might know past away a few years ago but I know in their heart they are so very graceful for what the church has done for us. I know this because they would tell me not to forget what the church had done for us when I used to come home on leave from the Army. And believed me, I have not.
Since then, I have served this nation for almost twenty years now. I am giving back to this nation and itís people for what was giving to me and my family 30 years ago. From the cold DMZ of Korea to the hot sand of IRAQ I had endured the sweats and the tears from the hardship, separation from family, lost of soldiers I have known and the unknown going into battle which I choose to served for the nation and the people which I believed in. Because of you all, I have a great life now and a family at home in Oklahoma while I am stationed here in Germany.
I am here to train our men and women for deployment for the war on terrorism so that we might have peace within the world someday.
I just came back from Normandy, France for military studies and to visit Omaha beach and to pay tribute to the men and women whom lost their lives there. This week which also mark 60 years since the surrender of Nazi Germany and end the war in Europe. When I was there looking at thousands crosses in the cemetery near the beaches, I thought how I am so blessed to be alive and free in this great nation of our and is due all because of those mem and woman whom made made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
And there for a second, it became clearly to me, that in that new and free nation which I started in, was a house that belong to a church, the Church of Salem Lutheran. In which forever will be part of me. Again, if I may say, thank you for the caring, love and the great deeds of a church had done so much for the Bui family which will never be forgotten and go unnotice. I will prayed for each and everyone of you for love, happiness, and great health for many years to come.
May God be with you all and your family until the end now and forever. Sincerely, Wayne Bui and Family.

Topic: to help provide info concerning Women of Faith
Comments: Your web site is VERY good. Easy to navigate, enjoyable to read, very informative and personable. I almost feel as though I've been to your church!

I am from Texas, and am trying to help get information to everyone in your area about the Women of Faith conference coming to the Xcel Energy Center in Sept. '03. I am not associated with Women of Faith in any sort of official capacity, but I just want everyone to know that lots of information about the conference is available to anyone interested. This, because I can honestly say it has changed my life, my wonderful marriage, even probably SAVED my life.

National Ministry Representative, Linda Stokes, from the home office in Plano, TX (Dallas) is in your area this week and next week making contacts and meeting with many women who are involved in their churches' "women's ministry". She would like to visit with you a few minutes if you are interested in just getting information about our conference ministry. She can be reached at 1-800-778-5856 Ext.#214, 214/ 213-1819, or by calling for her room at the Extended Stay America hotel there in Bloomington, 952/ 884-1400. She will retrieve all messages.

I apologize for rambling on in your guestbook area. I intended to just compliment your site and your church, but got carried away! Your church may receive other e-mail notes from me; so, again I apologize for being redundant.

Thank you for putting your church "out there" on the internet, where millions can see it and learn. God promises that His word shall not return void. God bless you all and God bless the USA.

In Christ,

Comments: I'm sure this isn't the most appropriate place to offer this, but I imagine it will get to the proper person(s) just the same. I've perused the site many times and I do feel that I have much to offer in the way of design assistance, etc. and if anyone is interested in that kind of input I'd be happy to hear from them. That said, I'd like to congratulate and thank everyone involved in producing the site thus far as there has obviously been an enormous amount of effort and time involved. Thank you. -- Michelle

Topic: From Lutheran Campus Ministry in Madison, WI
Comments: Dear ELCA Congregation,
August 22, 2002

Greetings from the Lutheran Campus Center of the University of Wisconsin, Madison! The Fall Semester is very quickly approaching and we have some great things planned this year. We provide many opportunities for students to worship, to meet other students, to eat homemade meals, and to share and help them grow in their faith and talents. We would like to thank you for your support in youth ministry and briefly ask for your help. An important part of our ministry is getting the names of incoming students. Without this step, we would not be able visit or contact the many students on campus and welcome them to worship or to participate in the many special events this semester.

We ask if you have any students, who are going to be attending college in the fall, if you could send us the following information.

Student's Name
Name of the University
Home Address (if available)
School Address and Email Address (if available)
Any other information you are willing to give or feel is important

Any information we receive about students who are not in the Madison area will be forwarded to the Lutheran Campus Ministry National Office, and from there will be sent to the Campus Ministry where the student attends college. Also feel free to respond to this email even if you have no freshmen students to let us know that.

Thank you very much for your assistance. I invite you to view our website at http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~lcc/. If you have any questions or want more information regarding the services that we offer or Campus Ministry, please email us at lccmadison@studentorg.wisc.edu, call us at (608) 257-7178, or fax us at (608) 257-7108.

If you have already contacted our office with this information, we apologize for any inconvenience.

God Bless,
Andrea Lord

Topic: Amber Tholey Sermon
Comments: The sermon has been on the web site since May and now has been archived.

You can access it on any main page in the "Salem Events & Notes" Bulletin Board (That is where it appeared).
1- Just Click the "Archived(Index)" on the "Salem Events and Notes"...
2- Another easy way to find anything on the web site is to use the SEARCH Tool that is on each main page. Type in the word "Amber" or "Amber Tholey" or "Tholey" and you will be amazed at the results...
3- Here is the exact URL if you don't care to use the above easy ways. http://slcwsp.org/salem/notes/AmberTholeySermon.shtml

It's there! ---- An html file and a pdf file for easy printing.

I have been requested to write an article for the AGEHR Overtones- due August 15, on handbells and orchestra. In order to make this article "interesting", I am contacting several handbell groups to ask for the following which I might include in my article.

If you have played in concert with an orchestra, band, or smaller ensemble (other than brass quintet, organ, or solo instrument) please answer the following:
1- Give instrumentation of group, name, event, location, date
2- music played - if published, give title, author, arranger, and publisher
3- details on set-up and implementation of performance (such as placement of bell tables, amplification, conducting)
4- comments from bell ringers, orchestra/musicians, audience
   5- reviews from performance
6- comments of encouragement to other directors to perform with orchestra or other large instrumental groups.

I would REALLY appreciate hearing from you soon. Linda McKechnie
